Microsoft PowerPoint 2007
Tips

Tip 1: Templates for PowerPoint 2003 and 2007 users

Can you develop templates for 2007 and 2003 users?  This is a great question to answer and one I found myself needing.  I found out that in PowerPoint 2007 there is a Slide Master plus Multiple Layouts that will offer a template.  An older version of PowerPoint will not have this ability.  While you can save in the 2007 version for a template if someone needs to access the presentation with an earlier version you must save in the 97-2003 option allowing them to view and change the slides, but not having the exact template of the new version.

Tip 2: Auto-completion

Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 has several new additions that actually enhance the program.  When I first opened the program the thing that stood out was the Real- time previews.  Before in PowerPoint you were able to select a menu option for tools, now you have preview options that will show you a specific action.  For example, if you are in the headings section of the new toolbar you can see what a heading will look like before you make any changes to that slide.  This ensures that you don’t make a mistake in the slide that may be tough to undo.

Tip 3: Expanding slides

In PowerPoint 2007 you have the ability to expand one slide into two slides when you decide there is a need for an additional slide.  Sometimes you may not realise you have too much information on one slide until you are all the way through.  So to expand one slide into two you should place the mouse on the outline tab at the end of the last line of text you want on the first slide.  Then press enter.  In the outline toolbar click promote; a new slide icon will appear in the outline pane.  Then you offer a title and adjust the text in the side as you would like it before hitting save.
