MS Office PowerPoint is not the first presentation software for the computer.  In fact this programme came after Harvard Graphics.  Harvard Graphics was part of Hewlett Packard in the creation of presentation software.  To a large degree Harvard Graphics is unknown in today’s software world, although it is still produced. 

Microsoft took the ideas behind the presentation software to create PowerPoint.  In fact PowerPoint is also based on Adobe Persuasion, another programme still in existence, but used less.  Adobe Persuasion was ahead of PowerPoint when it first came out.  They have the ability to offer the slide details in an outline as well as show the slides at the same time.

PowerPoint was able to add this technology and improve on it.  Despite the many options in presentation software the competition is now lacking in ease of use.  Most of the competition like Lotus, Adobe, and AppleWorks are chosen because of the computer operating system being used.  They are also still used by those who were taught on those products rather than MS Office PowerPoint.
