MS Office Outlook 2007 FAQ (500 words)
Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 is a great programme offering you a way to view email messages from the day and past days.  You can also see your contact list, email folders, calendar, and much more using the Outlook programme.  It has everything you would normally have in a day planner, only this is electronic.  Outlook can be used at home or in the office which makes it even better.  You may have some questions regarding how Outlook works; for that we have some answers.

How do I open a message?

To open a message in Outlook you will need to select the inbox.  In the inbox you will see new messages that appear in bold print.  You just need to double click on the senders name and the window opens with your message.  This is the same with any email.

How do I delete a message?

There are two ways to delete a message.  You can select the box and place an x in it then select delete.  You can also select the ‘deleted items’ folder to truly get rid of all the emails you have in your Outlook box.

How do I open an attachment?

To open an attachment with in an email you just need to click on the attachment icon.  Then you will be asked if you wish to open or save.  The computer will most likely run a virus detector programme to make sure it is safe to open.

How long can I keep a message?

In Outlook you can keep a message for 6 months.  After 6 months the system will automatically delete the messages.  This allows you to have more space on the disk.  If you over extend your messages to the point of filling up the disk, you will not receive any more emails until it is cleaned up.

How do I use the Calendar/ Contacts Features?

Within Outlook you have the ability to use the calendar and contacts option.  If you have a contact you would like to add to your Outlook email, you will just need to select on the contact section and add new.  You can also add contacts to a specific folder such as personal contacts, business, etc.

The calendar options are quite lengthy.  You can add a note on the calendar or just look at the date in the calendar.  If you need to add a task there is a wizard that will help you in the task section of the calendar to determine the time and event.  To get to this you just need to select the day on your task calendar.  You can also select the view you have within the calendar to display a week or a full month.

As you can see there are many options within Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 that can make using the programme a lot easier than a day planner.  Hopefully these FAQ’s can help you get started with the programme at the basic level.
