Microsoft Access 2007
FAQ

There are several questions you might have regarding the Microsoft Access programme, especially if you are a new user.  To help you understand a few of the frequently asked questions, we have posted them below.  You should be able to find everything you need below.

Where can I find a command in 2007 that has moved?

Microsoft Access 2007 has a few things that are moved.  If you want to learn where the tools are you used to use there are a couple of ways to do this.  First you can use the new programme as a test to locate the new commands.  The better option is to seek a download command programme.  The internet has software that will show you 2003 and then you click on anything in the menu to see where it has moved.  We also have a guide in this section to help you understand Access and the new toolbar options.

Does MS Access have templates I can use?

This is a very good question and yes.  You can choose from a number of database tools in access such as templates to help you create what you need.  In the new design you even have more templates to use.

How do I find the templates?

When you open MS Access you have the ‘getting started with MS Access’ show up.  There will be a menu of options for you to choose from.  One of those will be Templates.  By clicking on local templates you can get everything that is stored on your computer such as Assets, Contacts, Events, Faculty, and much more.  You just need to choose the template you want.

How can I prevent users from opening a shared database exclusively?

In answer to this question all you would need is a function called Autoexec macro that will stop the database from being opened from other users.

To change the MS Access Title Bar

If you need to change the MS Access title bar you can use run time options, titlebar=my text, startup screen=mypic.bmp, and then Icon=myicon.ico.  This is a little advanced, but it is still a popular question that you might need for further down the road in Access.

How can I open another database from code?

Simply go to ‘startup application’.
One of the largest questions in Access usage is: How to use the workgroup administrator.  So let’s take a quick look at this.

First you can use the visual basic code for the workgroup administrator.  This means that you will run the basic mode in windows.  Then you will need to open a trusted database or enable macros in the existing database.  By clicking CTRL + G you can open the immediate window.  Then follow the line of code and press enter.

The code is DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdWorkgroupAdministrator.  This should help you work within the database for Access 2007 and do all you need to in order to edit the information offered in the database system.
