Microsoft Office Access 2007 is not the only database creation programme on the market. You have MySQL, Amiga Datastore, Alpha Five, Borland Paradox, Datawasp, dBase, FileMaker Pro, Lotus, Neo Office, Oracle, and Sun StarBase to name a few. Oracle is perhaps the most well known competitor of Microsoft Office Access. They have over five different additions depending on your needs. For example the enterprise edition offers more in the areas of performance and security regarding the database. The standard edition is easier to use with the functionality it offers. The differences are slight when it comes to the MS Access programme and Oracle. In fact the major difference will be in price. Oracle requires a separate program that is just for database creation. While you can get Access separate from Office it is better to get the entire Office edition upgrade. Oracle can range in the 100 pounds area just for the database programme. Each program has a different way of completing the tasks. You may find the Oracle has a more user friendly appearance, but most of our research shows that MS Access is a lot simpler in the use when you have been using Office in the past. |
